Molly Update

Molly is doing much better!!! After 5 days of food and medication (faithfully applied by Mama, Lauren, and Leslie - thank you!), Molly is greatly improving. Her wounds are healing and she is gaining a little weight. Leslie and I took her to the vet yesterday morning and he was pleased. He scheduled an appointment for her to be spayed - he said before he wasn't sure before whether or not she'd make it and now she's going to be okay!

We are so excited Molly is doing well!

Rescuing Molly

The newest addition to our kitty family is Molly Thomason. Molly showed up at Mama's house around Wednesday or Thursday of last week, very skinny, with open wounds on her face, neck, and throat. You could feel every bone in her body and she could barely make any noise. Lauren and I took her to the vet Friday morning, where she was checked out and given oral medicine and an ointment for her sores. The vet says he believes she's about four months old and that an animal attacked her. Molly has been super sweet since the first time she showed up at Mama's door. Lauren and Leslie have been taking turns helping Mama apply Molly's medicine and she is improving daily. Molly is loving living at Mama's house. She definitely showed up with the right family!

Our whole kitty family now includes:
Lucy - My cat, who is four years old
Toby - Lauren's cat, who is over a year old
Kitty - Mama's cat, who is probably about 10-11 months old
BooBoo and Rambo - Leslie's cats, who are about 5 months old
Now Molly! - She's our "family cat" who's living at Mama's and about 4 months old

We love our kitties :) and we're so happy Molly is doing better!!

Adventures in Jam Making

Last week, Leslie and I decided we wanted to make homemade strawberry jam. We got some strawberries from the strawberry patch, glanced at the Sure-Jell box, and decided to give it a go. We definitely learned a few things in the process: 1) Always read directions BEFORE beginning. We had to make two special trips - one to Mama's for the cooker, and one to the store for more sugar. 2) You really need to have the air conditioner on when making jam. It gets SUPER hot.
3) You need plenty of oven mitts and hand towels handy. Oops and oops.

It was a lot of work, but I'm sure it will be worth it. If nothing else, it was fun spending the evening with L3! :)
