As 2008 comes to a close...

Anyone who knows me knows that it hasn’t exactly been the best year for me in many ways. But in most ways, it has been a GREAT year! I turned 24 in January and spent the day with my family. I purchased a dependable new car in February - a 2008 Mercury Mariner Premier. I was able to go to two Bible schools, help as a cook at our youth camp, attend several gatherings, and travel to Kentucky, New York, North Carolina, and my first time out of the country to Canada. I was able to see a good friend get married on the beach, spend a weekend at the lake with new friends, and have game nights with family and friends. I enjoyed many books and movies, learned how to cross-stitch, and painted a few rooms in my house. I attended my brother-in-law's college graduation, served as a maid of honor at my little sister's wedding, and travelled to JMU to watch my sister and new brother-in-law graduate. I went twice a month to visit with my lunch buddy, a ten-year-old girl in Richmond who I've been with for three years now. I spent quite a few Monday mornings on my grandfather's Meals on Wheels route. When I look at my year this way, how can I not feel not only happy with the way this year has turned out, but truly blessed with all I have been able to see, do, and experience?

Room at the Top of the World

Yes, my blog is named after a Tom Petty song! After sitting and trying to think of titles for this blog, I decided on Room at the Top of the World. I love Tom Petty, his songs, and his lyrics. They have shown up in my Facebook status quite a few times, so why not my blog title? :)
