Lindsey's Paige

I had to say goodbye to "Room at the Top of the World". I love the song and Tom Petty, but it's just too sad of a title for my blog when I'm so happy these days!

Paige is my middle name, hence the "Paige" instead of "page"... ingenious, I know.

New name, same thoughts and ideas :)

New Hobby

I'm actually starting to enjoy football..maybe because I'm finally beginning to understand it!!

Prayer Request

Michael took Lucy this morning to *sniff* get declawed. This is something that I said I'd never never never do! I know it needs to be done (those front claws can be vicious!) and we'll all be happier when it's done and Lucy can come to our new home. However, this doesn't mean that I didn't cry my eyes out this morning when he left with her!

Which brings me to the highlight of my story (and my day)...McKayla. She is only the sweetest child E.V.E.R. I was crying so hard when Lucy left and she just came up and put her little arms around me and hugged me. When I looked at her, she was crying, too. I asked her, "Are you crying for me or for Lucy?" and she said, "I don't know which." She was so sweet, telling me how Lucy would be fine and she would be home soon. About twenty minutes later, I took McKayla to school.

Later this morning, I was picking up in McKayla's room and saw her notebook open on the floor. The top of the page said "prayer list". Under that, she had written "lucy-get her claws taken out". It just melted my heart.

This afternoon, the first thing McKayla did went she was picked up from school was to call and ask me how Lucy was doing, and reassured me that Thursday (when I pick Lucy up from the vet) is not that far away!

I am so lucky to have such a sweet child in my life!!

"Honeymoon"

Since we got married on such short notice, we didn't really have time to plan a "honeymoon". Sunday night, we stayed at the cabin where we got married.

For dinner, we would settle for nothing less than the best! Michael took me to the store, where we picked up dinner and even dessert! :)

After our five-star dinner, we walked down to the lake and sat down on the dock for a while. It was a beautiful night and the water was nice.

Monday morning, we slept in (until about 7:30), then got right to work! We came home and made room for a few of my things at Michael's (now mine, too!) house. We finally got one of my dressers moved into the
bedroom.

Other events this week? Working in Richmond (where my co-worker, Jesse, made a beautiful cake to celebrate my wedding!!), Awanas, cleaning/organizing, soccer practice, Duke football game, church, and lunch with family and friends.

It was definitely a hectic first week of marriage and I'm pooped, but it was terrific! And don't worry - I'm going to get my "real" honeymoon in a few months! :)

B-L-I-N-G!

Here is my beautiful wedding/engagement ring!

As Spongebob Would Say...

....it's the BEST DAY EV-ER!!

Michael and I got hitched Sunday, September 20, 2009, around 2PM at his family's cabin in Lake Gaston.

We had talked about getting married for a little while and had even gotten a ring, but decided on Thursday night that we wanted to go ahead and get married!

Sooo....we went to the courthouse on Friday, got our marriage license, and sat down to wait. While we were waiting, Michael decided that it was just a little impersonal. On Saturday we informed our family that we would be getting married the next day in a small ceremony at the lake.

We really just wanted to say our vows and maybe have a bite to eat. Michael's mama and grandma went all out and had a beautiful spread of food and even a (tiered!) wedding cake! We were very surprised and appreciative. Dan Jarrell performed a very nice ceremony outside with just McKayla, our parents, grandparents, sisters, and nephew. The weather was perfect and we had the most beautiful day.

I could not ask for a more beautiful day, a better husband, sweeter step-daughter, or better family and in-laws!! I am sooo happy! :)

Flava Flavvv

So I really wish you could by things by the flavor. For example, I love all Starbursts, but pink ones are my favorite. Why not just make a pack of all pink Starburst?
The same goes for those frozen ice pops....just purple and blue, please!! I buy the bag with 100 icee pops in it, then I'm stuck with about 75 that I don't reall want.
Such a small thing, I know. But what a waste of money!!

I'm Having...

...a strange day today. The kind of day where you feel like something's not right, but you really can't put your finger on it. It's even more odd because I really don't have anything to be unhappy about! I think I need some sweatpants, some Christmas music, and some hot chocolate.

Hand-Picked Flowers

McKayla picked these flowers for me in her Grandma Jo's yard. I thought that was so sweet of her!!

New Friend

That's right, folks. Lucy has made a friend!!

Finally Fall!

Well, it is at my house anyway! Although the first official day of fall isn't until the 22nd, I couldn't help putting up my fall decor! I LOVE this time of year! I love the leaves changing colors, the smells of pumpkin and spices, the fall decorations, the crispness in the air, the cooler days, Halloween...it's definitely my favorite season!

Child Proof

McKayla asked me today, "How is it kiddie proof if they put the directions on the top of the bottle?"

Are You Ready For Some Football???

September 13, 2009
Today I went to my first NFL game at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC. Michael has season tickets to the Carolina Panthers and we went to see them play the Philadelphia Eagles. We had a good trip up and got to the stadium about 11:30. Michael bought me my first jersey (Steve SMITH) and we walked around the inside of the stadium.

The game started at 1PM and it was hot, hot, HOT! Of course I forgot my sunscreen and got burnt! Jason Michael Carroll, a country artist, sang the National Anthem. The Panthers made the first touchdown, but after the first quarter, it pretty much went downhill from there. We lost the game, but it was an awesome experience! I can't wait to go again! :)

Molly Update - September

It has been more than two months since Molly showed up at Mama's house, super skinny with horrible wounds after being attacked by an animal. Lauren and I took her to the vet July 3rd and Mama, Lauren, and Leslie gave Molly her medication twice a day for a few weeks. When Leslie and I took her back to the vet for her check-up, he told us that he didn't know if she was going to make it after seeing her the first time. After two months of eating properly, medication for her wounds, and a loving home, Molly is happy and looks great!! She has been spayed and has had her rabies and other shots. Molly and Mama have become good friends; she waits for Mama at the door and loves to purr.

wounds healed and she no longer looks like skin and bones!

Friday Night Fun

Michael, McKayla, and I went to Henderson, NC for dinner at Ruby Tuesday's Friday night. Our dinner was delicious (McKayla decided that she LOVED broccoli after I got her to try it off of my plate)! After that, Michael took us to a surprise place - Adventure Island for a round of putt-putt. We all had a great time playing together. Michael won and he and I each got a hole in one. McKayla got par on one hole! It was a fun way to spend a Friday night!
