For some reason...

... I can't stop smiling these days!

Welcome to the Future

I got the new Brad Paisley cd a few weeks ago and fell in love with this song right away. After seeing the video today, I just had to share it!!

Christmas in.... August??

So I've been getting into the Christmas spirit lately. I know, I know... it's only AUGUST, but I just couldn't help myself! I had an itch to listen to a little bit of Christmas music last Monday, thinking I'd stop after a couple of songs. But nope! I kept on listening straight through the week. Then last night, McKayla wanted to watch a movie. And you know what she chose?

That's my girl!

McKayla's First Day of School

McKayla started her first day of second grade at First Christian School on August 24th. She and Michael stopped by my house on the way to school. She was SO excited! McKayla could not wait to leave and head to school! Here are a few pictures of her all dressed up for her first day. Isn't she adorable?!

Duke Crazy

Michael loves Duke. No, I mean he LOVES Duke. I didn't quite understand that love until my first visit with him and McKayla to Duke a couple of weeks ago. He can look at a picture and tell you when the picture was taken, the score of the game, and who shot the winning basket. It was fun to watch him get so excited about his team! We went through the Hall of Fame and saw the basketball stadium. After looking for my "first Duke shirt" for about an hour, we ended up getting me one at the mall on the way home! I can't wait to go see my first Duke football game at the end of September!
Go Blue Devils!

Katie's Graduation Party

My cousin, Katie Harris, graduated from Powhatan High School in June 2009. In early August, her aunt and uncle, Kim and David Baisey, hosted a nice celebration cookout for Katie. Here are some pictures of family and friends from the party.

Congratulations, Katie! Good luck!

Ashley's Baptism

My cousin, Ashley Harris, was baptized by her dad on August 28, 2009 at the Richmond Chapel . After that, the ladies at the Chapel had refreshments. We all enjoyed fellowship and food. We were so lucky to be able to attend and watch Ashley become a sister in Christ.

I charged my camera, put it in my bag, then left it in the car! Even though I didn't get the pictures, I'm glad I was able to be there to celebrate Ashley's baptism.

Congratulations, Ashley!

This is a dark picture, but my favorite!

Lazy Days at the Lake

Michael's family has an awesome cabin on Lake Gaston. He had the cabin for two weeks this summer and I was able to spend a lot of time there with Michael and his daughter, McKayla. We celebrated Michael's 28th birthday and McKayla's 7th birthday, went on boat rides, swam in the lake, had a cookout for our families, I learned to kneeboard, and we took Trixie (his puppy) on her first boat ride!

We had an awesome time both weeks at the lake. Here are a few pictures from our time there!

Playing Catch-Up!

I have definitely let the blog slide over the past few months. I've just had so much going on! A week at Bible school, days at the lake, a new boyfriend ♥, the sweetest little girl to hang out with, and lots, lots more!

I am going to try to get back into the swing of things with my blog soon!

CCBS 2009

Mama and I went to the Canadian Christadelphian Bible School at Keuka College in New York the last week of July. I taught a class for the first time, the 5 and 6 year olds. We learned about Peter and did lots of fun crafts! I was so nervous about teaching them, but after the first class, I was hooked! I had so much fun with the kids!

The weather was perfect this year! We enjoyed walking, the classes and lectures, watching the Canadian vs. American softball game, and a local ice cream shop. We had a great time with family and friends!
